Kisspeptin may be a potential treatment for low sexual desire in men and women

Injections of the reproductive hormone kisspeptin may be a potential treatment for low sexual desire in men and women, according to two small randomized controlled trials.  The studies suggest that kisspeptin can increase sexual desire and penile rigidity in men, as well as restore sexual and attraction brain processing in women.  The trials provide proof of concept for the development of kisspeptin-based therapeutics for individuals with hypoactive sexual desire disorder, which affects up to 10% of women and 8% of men worldwide and leads to psychological and social harm.  Hormone Shot May Boost Libido JAMA Netw Open.
